I drove the XL1 yesterday! The coolest things about it, for me, are the massive gullwing doors. It's no speed racer, but then, it isn't supposed to be. Fuel economy is the name of the game, and it felt even lighter than I expected. And while I was at it, I ogled the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse.

Perhaps it is because I've been seeing the Bugatti on the web and mags for years...but the XL1 just seems so much more interesting to me.

You could not have been around two more opposite cars.

Yes, my camera tends to auto-correct to too warm a tint. I'm not sure how to override this.

I'd love to see the XL1's general chassis and shape overtop of some extremely powerful turbo-4 or straight six mid-ship engine. Think 400HP in a 1750lb car.

It also reminds me a lot of The Wraith:

I really would like to get an XL1, too bad it costs so damn much. I was also excited for the Aptera electric car a few years ago. Just with a small, efficient diesel engine.

You've probably got a white balance button somewhere, you might have it set for indoor lighting or something. If it's a point and shoot, sometimes those things get buried in menus instead of a physical button, and you just never see or think about it.

IDK, but I Think it's time for a facelift in Veyron

The Wraith's European, hypermiling cousin. Not a bad comparison, really.

Was he? I mean, they are both way over engineered cars designed to push the absolute limits.

In that respect no, but the intended purpose of each vehicle is at odds with each other I think.

Just be thankful for what you got.

They are going to shove a Ducati engine in it next year.

Give me the choice (ha!) and I'd take the XL1. Yes, really.

Forget the Phaeton, the XL1 should be Volkswagen's halo car in the U.S. You won't sell many, but it will draw people in.
